Features and Benefits of JCPenney Credit Card

If you look in detail, the JCPenney Credit Card don’t have much features or benefits for the customers. However, they have few attractive redeemed  option. Let’s have a look at what is offered to JCPenney credit card holders.

Annual Fees

There is no such annual or renewal fees on JCPenny card, that means, it’s totally free.

Rewards Points

JCPenney credit card awards 1 reward point on spending $1 while shopping from one of their stores or JCPenney website which is double as compared to using other payment option.

The maximum number of reward points that you can earn from a single retail purchase is 2000.

On returning a product, the reward points earned from the purchase will be deducted from your points pool, which will be calculated by the cost of that product. Also, if a product is on offer or has a discounted price, the reward points earned will be calculated on the basis of the amount you are paying for it, instead of the actual cost.

The exchange value of the reward points that are earned on credit card is 0.5%. It means that for every 200 reward points, you will be redeemed with an amount of $10.

Birthday offer

JCPenney gives special offers to customers on their birthdays which will depend on their spending patterns from their credit card. All customers are informed of the offer that they will get through email and will be valid only once in an year.

Review of JCPenney Credit Card

Even though the reward points that you can earn with the JCPenney credit card are double as compared to any other payment method, it is not a good credit card to have if you are looking for effective financial planning. The major reason for that is the rate of redeeming these reward points which is much lower than what you can earn by paying through any other credit card issued from a bank.

The birthday offers are also usually limited to a $10 or $15 voucher which is practically nothing when compared to the actual spending of each customer and the reward value that they are getting for that throughout the year. The offers available for the Gold and Platinum card holders may be better but reaching that level with JCPenney is not very easy.

What makes this credit card different from most store cards is that customers will have to pay an interest on the credit that they take while shopping. The APR is 26.99% which is very high as compared to similar credit cards from other companies.

Last but not least, you can’t use the card outside JCPenney’s store.

Conclusion

Overall, the credit card is not a good option to have.

The offers are not at par with the market standards and the reward value is incredibly low. The only good part about having a JCPenney credit card is that you can get an occasional waiver on the shipping fee which is not worth sticking to this credit card for long.
